Our class attends Adaptive Physical Education (APE) every Monday and Friday. The amazing students from Ms. Margolis’ class and Ms. Peterson’s class join in on the fun in small groups each week. A favorite activity this month was parachute.
This month our class had a blast on community. We went to Old Orchard Mall for our first trip and went on a scavenger hunt. Students enjoyed a special treat at The Bagel and picked out books to purchase from Barnes and Noble. We went to Target for our second trip and practiced identifying community signs. We also practiced asking for help from Target workers and students picked out more books to add to our classroom collection!
Cooking continues to be a class favorite. Students are always excited to find out what we will be making. We also love having peers join our cooking group. Cooking is a great activity to help students make connections to the weekly themes and vocabulary. This month our favorite recipes included scrumptious pizzas, yummy cookies, and bubbly punch.
We have recently implemented a new peer program! Students from Ms. Margolis’ class come to the ELS classroom each day to talk and hang out. Students take turns rolling a question cube and practice answering questions. This helps students get to know their peers better and feel more comfortable during inclusion opportunities.
The Library Council will be running a pajama drive starting Monday, December 3rd to Tuesday, December 18th. Pajamas need to be new and unused complete sets (top and bottom) or nightgown or onesie in any size from infant to 18 year old. Our goal is 60 sets of pajamas, if we reach it, Glen Grove will have an all school pajama day on Wednesday, December 19th to celebrate!
