Great Websites
Parents often ask about websites we use as well as what websites contain valuable information. Here are a few of my favorites:
TinSnips- A special ed website with a variety of tools, techniques, worksheets and activities.
Starfall- Online literacy activities for students. A great resource with books, songs, and videos!
Play At Home Mom (blog)- One of my favorite websites! Oodles of ideas for play, sensory, exploration, and FUN!!
NYC Department of Education- New York City Department of Education provides free downloadable adapted books. Great printables for your at-home library.
Illinois State Board of Education- A great resource of available supports in the state of Illinois. There is also information on various disabilities, supports, and state standards.
National Down Syndrome Society- There are more than 400,000 people living with Down Syndrome in the United States. This makes it the most commonly occurring chromosomal condition.
Autism Speaks- Autism Speaks is dedicated to increasing awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorders
Angelman Syndrome Foundation- Angelman Syndrome Foundation bases it’s philosophy on keeping up to date on current research and information. A great resource for families and those wanting to learn more.
United Cerebral Palsy- United Cerebral Palsy educates, advocates and provides support services to ensure a life without limits for people with a spectrum of disabilities.
Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association- The Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) partnership of ten park districts, two cities and one village in the northern suburban area of Chicago. NSSRA provides and facilitates year-round recreation programs and services for children and adults with disabilities who live in the partner communities.
National Fragile X Foundation- This foundation strives to enrich lives, promote public awareness, and advance research.
