DLM
Each April our students participate in the DLM. What is the DLM? DLM stands for Dynamic Learning Maps and it's an alternate assessment for students with cognitive disabilities. Think of it as an alternate to the PARCC testing done by all Glen Grove students.
Before the assessment begins, I fill out a profile on each child. This profile helps generate testlets that are appropriate for each individual child. I personally sit and do each testlet with each child on either the computer or iPad. During this time I am available to administer the test and make necessary accommodations.
Some Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the DLM?
A: DLM stands for Dynamic Learning Maps. Students in the state of Illinois are taking the PARCC test. The DLM is an alternative form of the PARCC test.
Q: How is it administered?
A: I sit down with students, one on one, and we do the test at the computer or on an iPad. I am able to read them the questions, use manipulatives (hands on materials), help them get interested in the materials, and input their answer into the computer (or iPad). We are able to give all accommodations needed to help the child be successful.
Q: How long does each test take?
A: Each test testlet less than 10 minutes. We do approximately 2 to 3 testlets per day.
Q: What kind of tests are they?
A: All students are given testlets in Reading/Language Arts and Math. 5th grade students also complete testlets in Science
Q: How many times per year do you do this?
The DLM is given one time per year
